Capturing December - Day 13: Family

rose in hands by eyesthatslay
No photo for this entry, but some thoughts.

There are different types of family. There is that you are born into, which you have no choice in. There's the family you inherit because of your association with lovers and spouses. Some of those you have no choice in either.

Then there is the family of your heart which you create over the course of your life. They are the ones you turn to in times of trouble, sorrow and joy. Some may be blood, but most will not, but these are the ones who light and warm your life, who give you strength in good times in bad — and who, so very often, know the right word to say when you have need. Whether they are near or far, in our hearts and minds they are always close.

As the days grow shorter and one year begins to turn toward the next, may you be enveloped in the warmth and love of the family of your heart.

Loved this entry! It's so true. It's been SoccerRef, Boo and the family of my heart who has gotten me through this past year. Thanks for sharing this today. I really needed the reminder. :)

Lovely! Losing so many members of my family early on means that most of my family is the family of my heart (including all my nieces, nephews and goddaughters). How much poorer my life would be without them.

That is beautifully stated. Thanks.
